Access to Resilience - Application Summary

Here are all the questions we ask in the application form for Access to Resilience. The guidance gives you more details about what you will need to tell us in your answers.

Section 1 - Your project

Please tell us about your project in this section. This is the most important section when it comes to making a decision about whether you will receive funding.

Question Guidance

What is the name of your project?

The project name should be simple and to the point.

Where will your project take place?

If your project covers more than one area please tell us where most of it will take place.

  • Select a location
  • Antrim and Newtownabbey
  • Ards and North Down
  • Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon
  • Belfast
  • Causeway, Coast and Glens
  • Derry and Strabane
  • Fermanagh and Omagh
  • Lisburn and Castlereagh
  • Mid Ulster
  • Mid and East Antrim
  • Newry, Mourne and Down
  • 3 or more council areas

Tell us all the locations the project will run in

In your own words, describe all of the locations that you’ll be running your project in. For example, ‘Armagh’ or ‘Belfast’ or ‘Kesh and Ederney’.

What is the postcode of where your project will take place?

If your project will take place across different locations, please use the postcode of the building or address where most of the project will take place. You must provide the full postcode.

If you do not know the postcode, you can use the Royal Mail Postcode Finder to try and find it.

Tell us the total cost of your project

This is the cost of everything related to your project, even things you're not asking us to fund.

For example:

  • If you're asking us for £150000 and you're getting £20000 from another funder to cover additional costs, your total project cost is £170000.
  • If you're asking us for £150000 and there are no other costs, your total project cost is £150000.

How much money do you want from us?

What will you spend the money on?

Give us a list of budget headings (for example, salaries, running costs, training, travel and overheads) and the costs of these items.

You can write between 50 and 500 words for this section.

How long do you need the money for?

We can fund projects for up to 3 years. If your project is not an exact number of years, please round up to the nearest year. For example, for an 18 month project, choose two years.

  • Up to 1 year
  • 2 years
  • 3 years

What would you like to do?

Tell us:

  • which community groups your project will work with
  • which sector of underrepresented community groups they are – for example, women, older people, disabled people
  • how you know what skills and capabilities (also known as capacity building) the community groups need
  • what your project will do to develop their skills and capabilities.

And if you’re a generalist support organisation, tell us about the community group you plan to collaborate with, including:

  • who they are
  • why you have chosen them
  • how they will contribute to this project.

You can write up to 1,000 words for this section.

How will you encourage the groups to participate in your project?

Tell us:

  • why the groups you’ll help are not currently benefitting from capacity building support
  • about the access needs of the groups you want to support
  • how you found out what the access needs are
  • how you plan to provide the support in a way that works for each group
  • how you’ll encourage the groups to actively engage with your project. For example, you could offer to cover expenses, provide refreshments or a financial incentive. We want you to make sure that you get meaningful and inclusive participation.

You can write up to 1,000 words for this section.

How will you measure the impact your project has on the community groups?

Tell us:

  • what diagnostic tool (or other method) you’ll use to assess the skills and capabilities of the groups you’ll support
  • how you’ll measure the impact of the support you give to each group
  • how the project will have a lasting impact on the skills and capabilities of community organisations in Northern Ireland.

You can write up to 1,000 words for this section.

Section 7 - Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) monitoring information

We want to hear more about the people who’ll benefit from your project and your organisation.

Question Guidance

Is your project aimed at a specific group of people or is it open to everyone?

If at least 75% of the people you support share characteristics, then your project is for a specific group.

Your specific group may share one or more characteristics. For example, if 80% of the people you work with are female refugees, this means you support a specific group of people. In this example, they share two characteristics — women and refugees.

We know this can only be an estimate. It’d be too difficult to work out exactly, especially if this is a new project.
